SPORTS FOUR SCHOOLS TO ENTER MEET Little Citrus Belt Scrap Will Be Held Today in Redlands The eyes of the Citrus Belt will be turned toward the University of Redlands athletic stadium at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon when San Bernardino, Redlands, Chaffey and Ciaremont high schools are scheduled to tangle in what promises to be miniature Belt league meet. The real Citrus Belt League meet will take place in Ontario on April 8. However, as of a curtain of strongest contheort tenders for league honors, San Bernardino, Redlands and have agreed to tangle this afternoon. Claremont. High has been thrown for good measure.

The real big kick of the afternoon's performance will be furnished in that lightning-like affair known as the 100-yard dash. In this event will be brought together Green Chaffey, Mosso of Redlands, and Cain of San Bernardino. Although coaches of these three are "slickers" at suppressing time of their proteges, many ardent fans are of the belief that each three lads is capable of negotiation the century in nearly 10 seconds flat. Another feature of the day should be the mile grind. Krehbiel of Chaffey and Captain Garner of the locals are the two fastest distance men the Citrus Belt.

When these boys meet a real race will be made. The hurdle races should be "all San Bernardino" although Green Chaffey may come up in the low sticks. The field events look to be: a draw between the schools. If relay decides the meet then the fans will see one great race. Canaday, manager, is finding the use of the Brogdex system of protec-10 tion for citrus fruit most satisfactory in every way.

All fruit going out from this hiuse is Brogdex treated and reaches the distant buyer in the same fresh condition and looking just as it did when it was placed in the car here. Another feature the saving of the expense the growers as fruit Brogdex treated requires no ice, but is shipped under ventilation. The difference in cost is considerable. The Rialto Orange Company has sent out 12 cars within the past six working days, six of navels, four Mediterranean Sweets and two seedlings. Other houses are sending out oranges in mixed varieties as the end of the navel season draws nearer.

Rialto AssociaLionhe George T. a Nicholls, manager, also sent out 12 cars, 10 being of the navel variety and two seedlings. This house also uses the Brogdex system of protection. The Rialto Fruit Company, bert manager, shipped out its first car of various citrus fruits yesterday, a car of hom*osassas. Cox and Wood to date have shipped out navels only, but have begun work in the hom*osassas today and will send out a car tonight or tomorrow.

Woman's Club to Meeet The next meeting of the Rialto Woman's Club and likely the last session to be held in the old quarters, will occur on Wednesday next week, April 5. "Child will be the subject to engage the attention and the Child Welfare chairmen, Mrs. J. McManis and Mrs. Raymond V.

Canaday, will be charge of the program. Mrs. C. McLaughlin, Mrs. Earl Needham and Mrs.

George W. Leek will preside over the tea table. The net receipts from the play, "Zaragueta," recently given under the auspices of the social service committee, amounted to $37, which be equally divided between the local committee and the performers. Intensive Farming Frank M. Lingo drove in from his EARL NEEDHAM IS BUYER OF HOUSE Improvements Being Made in Mona Macklin Market and Winslow Bldg.

(Special Staff Correspondence) RIALTO, March Needham of the Needham Sons grocery firm this afternoon bought of Lee Goodwin a house and lot at the corner of North Riverside Avenue and Second Street. The lot has a frontage of on the Avenue and 150 feet on East Second Street, and house contains six rooms besides athe a screen porch. A cement block building on the rear of the lot, formerly used as the Home office, will be converted into a roomy garage. Mr. Needham expects to have carpenters, to" the ground tomorrow begin the work of completely remodeling the residence.

Modern conveniences added will be redecorated in the interior and the outside of the building repaired and painted. Mr. Needham hopes to have all completed in time to move his ily to the new home by With the buy of today each, partner in the Needham firm is the owner of a Riatel home, a third son and former partner in the firm, W. A. Needham, now conducting a business at Los Angeles.

W. A. Needham is a director of the Citizens' National Bank Rialto. The Lee Goodwins, having sold their home, are moving to Glendale. H.

Crowder, who has but just completed improving the room occupied by the Mona and Macklin market in the lower story of his cement block at the corner of Riverside Avenue and First Street, is starting improvement work in the upper story. There are four rooms above stairs, the big hall or ballroom on the west, a good sized dressing room and lavatory, and an office room on the north and east st now occupied by the Mutual Land Water Company. Across the hall on the south with east front is a fine large room, measuring 30x22 feet, which Crowder is changing into a four modern apartment. Mr. Crowder also has tentative plans as to adding other apartments, which he will carry out if the demand shows a need of them.

Work is beginning today on walls for the new Winslow building which will be of reinforced cement with a brick front. The first plan was for all brick walls as in Mr. Winslow's adjoining block. Change in kind of material is made because of the rush of the work, the cement taking less time to complete. The brick block is to be ready for occupancy by the Pendleton department store by May 31, and the new building must be ready for moving Public Library and Rialto Woman's Clubs in time for the extensive improvements purposed.

Workmen are already remodeling the old Rialto Theater room in the north part of the building, that side of the dividing partition shutting off the library being reduced to a skeleton in preparation for quick removal. The floor in the theater room is also being placed on a level, but comparatively little can be done while part of the building is still occupied. T. H. Nicholls is in charge of the work.

The Citizens' Land Water Company have a gang of workmen engaged in taking up the water main on Riverside Avenue through the main business district. The main was put in 35 years ago and has a right to be "all worn out," as its condition is reported. The new pipe will extend from the Pacific Electric station to the Santa Fe railway. From time to time the eucalyptus tree roots have entered and nearly closed the old main, causing the escaping to rise through surface of the 'principal business street, in turn making necessary the rather frequent digging up of the pipe lengths to clear them out.
