The Citizen

Opening on 6 September where The Trading House used to be, The Citizen is a restaurant and bar which will celebrate Glasgow’s heritage.

Everything is themed around The Evening Citizen, one of Glasgow’s first evening newspapers, which used the building as a headquarters from 1889.

The menu is set to feature classic brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner options, as well as vintage-inspired co*cktails.

Pianola & Co

Pianola & Co, a classic European-style brasserie serving Italian-inspired dishes, opened recently in the West End.

The restaurant hopes to become a friendly neighbourhood hangout for locals – from breakfast time all the way to dinner – and there’s even an antique pianola (a self-playing piano) to provide some entertainment.

Leiper's Attic

Named for the architect who built the church, Cottier's new restaurant will celebrate Scottish produce and is due to open mid-September

Leiper’s Attic will replace the existing restaurant and is set to launch a completely refreshed menu that’s full of local and seasonal delights including house dry aged beef, wild fish and game.

Donor Haus

Doner Haus (who already operate a restaurant in Sunderland) are expanding to Glasgow in September.

Serving up traditional Berlin-style kebabs, the menu has German and Turkish influences, with dishes like the Checkpoint Charlie Kebap, featuring doner meat, onions, gherkins, mustard mayo, ketchup and cheese.

In Bloom

Opening soon on Clarendon Place is In Bloom, a Nirvana-themed cafe which is also cruelty-free.

Mara bar and restaurant has opened in Edinburgh - here's what's on the menu including a Unicorn co*cktail

Exact details are yet to be released, but the menu looks set to be completely vegetarian and vegan, and will no doubt include plenty of references to iconic grunge band, Nirvana.

The Boyd Roderick

Focusing on the best of Scottish produce, The Boyd Roderick is a restaurant, bar and coffee shop “born in Skye, made in Glasgow”.

Their menu is filled with refined versions of classic Scottish dishes, such as west coast mussels with shallot and whisky cream, venison stovies with savoy cabbage, and home-cured Loch Fyne salmon gravlax with pickled vegetables and herb croutons.

Hickory Steakhouse

Hickory Steakhouse has just opened in Shawlands, offering classic steaks and cuts of meat cooked over a hickory wood-smoked grill.

Vapiano

Opening in late autumn, popular European chain, Vapiano, will be taking over the former HMV store on Buchanan Street.

The restaurant will offer Italian fast food, with pasta, pizza, salads and antipasti made fresh in front of diners in the open kitchens.

Avo

Scotland’s first ever avocado cafe (from the team behind Roaster’s Deli) is set to open in Glasgow this autumn.

Details of the menu are yet to be released, but it is expected to include lots of popular avocado-based dishes, such as avocado on toast, guacamole and avocado salads.

Celino’s Partick

Celino’s – the popular Italian restaurant based in the East End – recently opened a new branch in Partick.

Their menu features the classic Italian dishes Celino’s are famous for, including antipasti platters, stone baked pizzas, and tasty pasta dishes.

Mujigae

The former Seoul Restaurant has undergone a revamp and reopened as Mujigae, a South Korean and Japanese eatery.

As well as serving authentic South Korean dishes, the restaurant also has an express sushi bar and Korean barbecue grills on the tables, so customers can cook up their own food to perfection.

Cafe Francoise

Located on the ever-popular Byres Road in Glasgow's west end, Cafe Francoise is set to open in September and promises a menu of 'French with a hint of Italian' - a nod to owner Tony's parentage.

Opening in place ofPatisserie Francoise - a French-style bakery that has been a mainstay on the busy street for 25 years - the cafe will serve full meals (something that they didn't do before) as well as a selection of drinks from the bar.

Inside has been completely renovated by Tony, and the outdoor seating area will be an ideal sunny spot to enjoy dinner and drinks, should the weather behave.
