Throughout Dragon Ball FighterZ's lifespan as a fighting game, many characters have been released that have shaken up both the game and its community. Many characters came and reset the ranks and tier list, forcing many players to debate different characters' strengths and applications in the game. Characters pulled from various Dragon Ball IPs, including Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and even the controversial Dragon Ball GT have all made their way into the life cycle of Dragon Ball FigtherZ.
With the game being constantly patched over the years, many metas have come and gone. Characters with new functions and new mechanics appear game-breaking when first introduced, only for the community to later gain a better understanding and place them accordingly. However, with time now passed, many of these DLC characters have come and cemented their positions in players' minds.
10 Kefla Is a Rushdown Blast Character
The Alternate Universe's Female Warrior
Notable Special Moves:
- Gigantic Breaker
- Time to test this power out!
- Double Hammer
Kefla got her first introduction into the series in Dragon Ball Super, appearing as two separate female characters: Caulifla and Kale. The two young Saiyans come together to make a very brash and berserk character in the manga. She quickly soared through the ranks in terms of popularity, cementing herself as one of the most fan-loved new characters to come out of the series. This is why it was no surprise when she made her way into the Dragon Ball FighterZ scene.
Kefla's gameplay is surrounded by a heavily blast-centered kit. With Kale's raging personality type, and Cailifla's brashness, Kelfa is more blunt and confident. She uses her various ki blasts and beams to set up her combo strings dealing high amounts of damage in a short time. These various ki blasts also come with a series of quick punches and kicks to further her combos and keep pressure on her opponents. She also comes with decent overhead attacks that allow her to excel in fast-paced mixups, keeping the opponent on their toes at all times when she rushes them down.

Dragon Ball FighterZ: Everything You Need to Know About Super Baby 2
Dragon Ball FighterZ continues its surprise redemption of Dragon Ball GT with the long-awaited arrival of Super Baby 2 to the popular fighting game.
Notable Special Moves:
- Machine Gun Rush
- Dark Springshot
- Full-Power Energy Wave
Super Baby 2 comes from the Dragon Ball GT universe and brings the fans a whole new version of Vegeta. After Vegeta has his body invaded by Baby, the last member of the truffle race, he brings out a much darker side of Vegeta. This version of Vegeta comes with Baby's iconic altered eyes and white hair matching the tones of Baby's skin. He also wears armor reminiscent of his old Saiyan armor back from earlier in the series.
Super Baby 2 is given one of the most unique kits in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Baby Vegeta's kit is unique and is wrapped around various distractions and delays that the player can build around to set up combos. Similar to Kefla, he has a large arsenal of ki blast attacks to play with. However, in the case of Super Baby 2, his ki fireball attacks pass through the opponent and travel offscreen. These blast attacks then return after a certain time limit is reached to hit the player once again. This level of setup makes Baby a truly difficult character to master, as the player must dedicate lots of time to getting the timing of his moves right. However, it also opens up Super Baby to be one of the strongest mechanical characters to be added to the roster.
8 Goku GT Is a Small and Versatile Character
Kid Goku Returns
Notable Special Moves:
- Reverse Kamehameha
- Dragon Flash Fist
- Kamehameha
GT Goku is another GT character making an appearance in the Fighter Z franchise. Most notably, different from the regular Goku by his size and age, GT Goku comes with a lot of interesting and fun mechanics that do not exist on many characters in the game. Goku GT's kit is most notably centered around various Kamehameha techniques that give him access to many playstyles.
Goku GT players should focus more on using his reverse Kamehamehas, which allow him to launch himself around the screen with precision while beating out most other players in priority. Goku GT also excels in the air as well as he does on the ground with access to all the same special moves while in the sky.
7 Android 17 Is Great For Rushdown and Mixups
The Android Who Remains Relevant
Notable Special Moves:
- Accel Driver
- Low Gear
- Acrobatic Assault
Android 17 made his introduction into the series after his popularity soared, seeing his return in Dragon Ball Super. His relevance in the Tournament of Power arc in Dragon Ball Super catapulted him into the forefront of the minds of the fanbase. This is why, upon his announcement and release, he was welcomed with open arms by the community. Android 17's kit offers him unique mobility, allowing him to use the walls of the game to traverse the screen.
His move, Acrobatic Assault gives the player multiple options when it comes to starting an attack string while also providing gap close without the use of the super dash that many other characters rely on. He can also cancel this special movement at any time with the help of a super dash or a few different special moves in his kit. Android 17 also has a good set of ranged moves with ki blast to make medium-ranged fights more accessible for the player as well. His kit is also riddled with various gears or drivers that allow for him to string together and cancel combos that will mix up his opponent and dominate the fight.
6 Super Saiyan Blue Vegito Is a Great Combo Chainer
The Return of the Pottara Fusion
Notable Special Moves:
- Barrier
- Atomic Buster
- Spirit Excalibur
Super Sayain Blue Vegito is another recent addition to the fandom, making his first appearance on screen in the Goku Black/ Zamasu Saga of Dragon Ball Super. With his appearance in this arc also came the return of Goku and Vegeta's fusion forms, adding the newly acquired Super Saiyan Blue to Vegito. This came with lots of excitement for fans seeing it for the first time in the manga and just the same was said for those seeing him in the game. Super Saiyan Vegito's Kit relies heavily on speed.
Riddled with mostly various kicks and a few punch streams, Super Saiyan blue Vegito puts high pressure on the opponent. He does this so well that seemingly, at times, he offers no window for the player to fight back. He also holds some of the highest-hit combo strings due to his high-intensity quick flurry fighting style. Vegito's gameplay revolves around tripping the enemy up with a single hit that will then allow him to carry the momentum of the fight and push the enemy into a corner. Once his opponent is backed into a corner and a combo has begun, Vegito benefits from many tactical resets and uses his spirit sword to extend and restart combos. He then finishes with signature grabs, and of course, his super techniques.

How to Build a Balanced Dragon Ball FighterZ Team
With rollback netcode announced for Dragon Ball FighterZ, it's the perfect time for new gamers to join in. The first step is learning to build a team.
Notable Special Moves:
- Raging Quake
- Gigantic Fury
- Headbutt
Dragon Ball Super Broly is the first reiteration of the character given new life in the Dragon Ball Super Universe. A long-time fan favorite, many were pleased to hear about Broly making a return to the series. In Super, Broly has a much more reasonable and relatable demeanor that works well in both the anime and the game. However, he does still maintain that hulk-like presence and that has brought many players great joy. Like the raging hulk that he is, Dragon Ball Super Broly focuses on punishing smashes, kicks, stomps and grabs to fight his opponent.
Broly's kit centers mostly around keeping up the pressure with various command grabs and supercharged ki blasts that provide pressure and control the space. Broly also frequently uses a series of stomps to pressure the opponent into blocking low, keeping them on their toes for what's to come next out of it. As per usual, many moves in his kit also come with armor, allowing him to take more hits than the average character in some cases. This sticks true to the brute strength of his character overall. These things work in tandem to make DBS Broly a dominating force and a great pickup for anyone's roster of DLC characters.
4 Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta Excels At Misleading Opponents
The Strongest Fusion
Notable Special Moves:
- Multiplex Afterimage
- Punisher Drive
- Rising Vortex
Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta is one of the strongest iterations of the characters Goku and Vegeta fans have ever come to see. Making his first appearance in the Dragon Ball Super Broly Movie, he garnered a lot of hype in a very short time. With Broly being a special case in which a Saiyan can reach a power level that surpasses both Goku and Vegeta, the need for Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta was born. This made it to where it was only a matter of time before players saw him included in the FighterZ franchise. Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta came into the game with a kit that specializes in more of a trickster playstyle.
With the ability to create various clones of himself using afterimages, this Gogeta has lots of potential in his mixups. This Gogeta also comes with a unique default combo that can leave even the player controlling him a little surprised. Unlike with many other characters, players will have to get used to the fact that Gogeta's default string sends the opponent into the air very early. This allows access to many other types of strings but also casts away the many default strings players have grown accustomed to when playing other characters. Gogeta also benefits from the ability to use both the Kamehameha and Galick gun to add to combos or as a means of ranged pressure.
3 Ultra Instinct Goku Is Untouchable When Played Right
Goku's Most Powerful Form
Notable Special Moves:
- Embodied Light
- Godly Strike
- Godly Display
Ultra Instinct Goku making his debut in Dragon Ball Super, is one of Goku's strongest, if not the strongest, form to date. It is no surprise that its addition to the game came with a significant number of interesting and unique movesets. Ultra instinct Goku is a character that focuses on and raises the dodging potential of Goku to its peak. This is shown in his kit in FighterZ as he has several flips and doges built into his special move list that all allow him to counter with punishing attacks whenever he successfully lands them.
Various flips allow him to move through different beam attacks with ease, throwing the opponent for a loop when trying to apply ranged pressure. He also benefits from several distance-closer abilities such as his instant teleport on his Godly Display move. Outside this, the character's kit also comes with multiple command grabs tied automatically into his combo string as well as a few you can do right out of his flips. The character is also passively immune to any ki fireball-type attacks when moving forward and can activate a stance that dodges all moves thrown at him except supers. All of these options and many more unique techniques make UI Goku one of the strongest characters to exist in the game now.

Dragon Ball FighterZ: SS4's Gogeta Has The Game's WILDEST Moveset
SS4 Gogeta is the last DLC character of Dragon Ball FighterZ's third season and brings with him an amazing arsenal of devastating moves.
Notable Special Moves:
- Finish Sign
- Head Crusher
- Meteor Strike
Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta makes an appearance in the game coming from the Dragon Ball GT series. He holds a special place among all the fans of the Dragon Ball franchise and stands as one of Goku and Vegeta's strongest fusions to date. The character is so strong that he is known to have a hard time taking any fight seriously, as was the case with Shenron, and this is perfectly captured in his kit in the game.
Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta's kit comes with a very fluid and easy-to-use set of combos. With a built-in high attack that is difficult to adjust to on the receiving end, his default combo is very punishing yet easy to pull off. His kit centers around various highs and mediums as well as taunts to bait the opponent into setups for devastating strings. SS4 Gogeta also comes specially equipped with a special move that allows him to supercharge his three-meter every time it is activated, eventually giving the player the ability to one-shot any of the other player's characters if it is landed. Gogeta's kit also contains a few unblockable attacks, command grabs, and even some extremely satisfying specials that allow for easy chaining.
1 Jiren Is a Character With Answers For Everything
The Defender of Universe 11
Notable Special Moves:
- Grand Charge
- Counter Impact
- Shock Tornado
Jiren is the last antagonist the main character had to face in the Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power and is the one who brings the most out of Goku. Pushing him to unlock his infamous Ultra Instinct mode, Jiren was absolutely one of the strongest enemies Goku had ever faced by then. Jiren was an immovable force to be reckoned with, and it is no surprise that in FighterZ he reigns supreme undeniably as one of the strongest characters in the game. Jirens Kit is filled with a healthy mix of blast as well as methodical and straightforward combos. His regular combo string comes with an upward projectile that catches and launches players into the air, making for a great number of setups while also covering any openings an already airborne player may be showing.
His kit also gives him access to two different types of counters which can be used distinctively against any physical or blast attacks. These counters allow any Jiren player to dominate the game, leaving opponents without many options when it comes to attacking the player. He also comes with a shielded short dash attack to protect him while distance closing and even a surprisingly fast command grab to punish opponents for blocking for too long. The number of sheer options Jiren has, as well as his pressure, poses him as one of the greatest DLC characters added to the game.
